Each window has its own black clutch operated roller shade.
Roller shades installed in a trendy Chicago Bar
Notice the wave in some of the roller shades. This is typical and normal to see this type of movement or wave in large roller shades from the profile. There is nothing wrong with the shade or the material. We can not get every single roller shades material to lay exactly the same, especially on the larger sizes.
Solar Shade 5% openness raised half way
This 5% openness black solar shade allows one to maintain their view without having to wear sunglasses. Notice the difference. The view and glare between the shade where lowered and the bottom glass where there is no shade. Which view would you prefer?
Black solar shade 5% openness
Office in loft building is uses the exposed brackets and no fascia to mimick the exposed components in the space. The dark color absorbs the light and greatly reduces the glare within the room.

custom drapery details
This is a top pleat 2 pinch pleat with 2 fabrics and ball tassel trim separating the top and bottom fabrics. Remember that drapery panels are meant to compliment your room, so add the "doo dads" to really make it special!
Custom drapery details
This drapery header is a goblet pleat with fabric covered buttons at the pinched portion of the goblet. Tassel trim seperating top and bottom fabric. Complementary fabric colored shantung silk is puffed between the goblets. Do not be afraid to really dress up your draperies or panels to customize them to be as decorative and unique as you want. In fact if you can think of an idea, we can probably make it.
faux silk drapery w/ blackout liner
This loft apartment has 20 foot ceilings and an oversized sliding glass door facing west. Since the sun is so intense, we decided to line the faux silk drapery with a blackout liner to allow for better t.v. viewing and to control the amount of heat allowed in the unit. The drapery is mounted on a decorative metal traverse rod from Kirsch.
Colorful silk draperies over sheers with a custom cornice
A custom cornice that touches the ceiling covers the headers on these colorful decorative silk drapery panels and sheers. We selected the most gorgeous shade of red tangerine dupioni silk to be paired with a crisp white sheer drapery. The length is different between the sheers and the colorful side panels. We used the traditional length of above the floor for the sheers and then a modified puddle for the outer panels. How Fab!!!
Different drapery lengths
Notice that look is similar but different between these 2 drapery lengths. The left side has a panel that is just above the floor so it may be traversed without having to redress the bottom. The right side is shorter than a puddle, but longer than above the floor. It a luxurious look that is intended to be stationary. Think of different hems styles like you do your pants, no right or wrong, just what think looks best in your home.
Custom cornices and silk draperies
WOW! Look how elegant custom sheers, warm colored silk draperies and custom cornice look! A true designer look and yet so simple. The silk draperies are the same color tone as the sofa. The bright colored chairs and matching colored pillows on the sofa tie the whole room together.
Top Pleat Pinch Pleat Drapery
This top pleat pinch pleat drapery is covering a sliding glass door in a family room. The material is a multi color textured poly/cotton with a light filtering liner. Drapery look great with any other type o window covering and to add more dimension to this drapery- a custom cornice could be added to cover the header and add height and a more finished look.
Informal dining area before
This informal dining area has windows on every wall and the client wanted to have privacy, light control, a clean timeless look and also it had to be decorative.
Informal dining area after
Custom knife pleat roman shades with a light filtering liner were mounted inside the window frame. The small profile of a flat front roman shade is a perfect selection for any window with limited inside depth. The warm grey color complements all the colors in this room without matching any wall color.
Roman shade and drapery panels in dining room
This historic home formal dining room looks modern and fresh with a colorful knife pleat top down bottom up roman shade. Only the focal window has the roman shade with white colored back tab decorative drapery panels on each side. Top down bottom up is a great option for this room because the amazing leaded glass top feature on the window should be highlighted and not covered up. The side windows have only the long wide transom style window with the decorative panels on each side. Sometimes only 1 window needs a little something, do not think all windows in the same room need to dressed the same way.
Rod pocket panels and roman shade
This child's reading nook is highlighted with a colorful nautical flag patterned material. A simple rod pocket header is the perfect option for panels that will only be used for a decorative purpose. The look is clean and the panel are held back with simple ties, release the hold backs and instant privacy for a cozy reading session! The window has a simple light colored light filtering roman shade, that when raised looks like a fabric valance. Simple, elegant and whimsical. Consider adding drapery panels to any opening that you want to create focus and definition.
2 inch faux wood blinds in office
These 2 inch white faux wood blinds with decorative headrail are installed as an outside mount. These window had no inside mount depth and the wanted to show a portion of her trim as opposed to installing from edge to edge. The purpose to cover these windows was only to control the direct sun and heat.
motorized cellular shades-before
Loft apartment with oversized windows. Make sure to see the transformation in the "after" picture
motorized cellular shades-after
Notice the transformation. The architecture of the windows is not lost when the natural light filters through the fabric. The room feels warm and at a touch of a button the shades can raise and lower. Motorization is child friendly and practical.
Duo-Shades or 2 fabrics on 1 headrail
However you want to call these shades, they are just so functional and beautiful. A great selection for any window where we want a filtered view from the top and a different degree of privacy or light control from the bottom or all over. These windows have sheer material on the top and a light filtering material on the bottom. Consider this combination for any public room or even a bathroom. For a bedroom try a blackout material on the bottom and a sheer material on the top. It works like a top down bottom up shade, you control how you alter the view and light.
Cordless top down bottom up cellular shades
Top down bottom up cellular shades are great for any window where we want to maximize privacy and/or view. This is a 3rd floor city apartment. Filtering the view to highlight the trees and sky was a priority over looking at electrical wires and cars. The light green color of the cellular shade blends into the wall and therefor is not a focal point. Your eye naturally sees the view outside the window like the trees and sky. The cordless option allows for a clutter free look and they are so simple to operate. Cellulars are also great insulators against heat and cold.
2 inch white wood blind with black tape
These 2 inch white wood blinds were completed with black tape. We installed them to go from wall to wall even though the window was not that wide. This type of installation allows us to think the window is larger than it really is and the result looks great!
Decorative window film on ascending stairs
Decorative window film is a great option for any window where you want privacy, maximum light and simplicity. A stairway is a busy part of a home and it has limited space. So decorative window film is a perfect solution. Nothing to clean, child safe and beautiful. This is a city home and houses are very close together, so who wants to look at a brick wall? As this client said " wow- pictures just don't do film justice. This film is so much more attractive in person than in a picture". Consider film for entry doors, side lights bathrooms and any window where you want character and privacy!
Outside mount 3 1/2 inch Shutter with hidden tilt rod
These 4 sided L Framed shutters have 3 1/2 inch louvers with hidden tilt rod and a cut tilt bar. Notice the shutter on the left- you will see all the lovers can be adjusted so it looks like they all operate together. When you look at the shutter on the right, you will see the cut tilt bar was made about 3/4 of the way up from the bottom. Both shutters have the same cut tilt bar, but you have the option to adjust the louvers as you want privacy and light control. A cut tilt bar allows you the flexibility to control your privacy and light.
2 1/2 inch stained wood blind in office
This home office has all the luxury details including 2 1/2 inch louver wood blinds in a stain to match all the custom wood work on the walls, floor and ceiling. Don't be afraid to add a custom stained wood blind in a room even when there is a lot of custom wood detailing. The final look will be refined and sophisticated. This client was concerned about my advice for a bold blind and after seeing the final product - couldn't be happier with the final outcome!
