What Lakeshore Homes in Manitowoc County Need From Their Windows
Homes near the lake deal with four things most window treatments aren’t built for: bright glare off the water, cold wind in winter, older window frames that are rarely square, and street-facing windows in close-knit neighborhoods. Here’s what we recommend most often:
The workhorse for a Wisconsin winter. Their honeycomb cells trap air at the glass, helping keep the warmth in on January days when the wind comes off Lake Michigan. |
For rooms that face the lake. Solar shades cut glare and filter UV rays that fade floors and furniture, while you still see the water through them. |
Top-Down/Bottom-Up Shades Lower the top for daylight and raise the bottom for privacy. A favorite for street-facing windows in Manitowoc and Two Rivers neighborhoods. |
The classic look of wood without the warping. A good fit for kitchens, bathrooms and other rooms with lake humidity. |
Raise and lower shades from your phone or on a schedule, including hard-to-reach windows. We install Lutron and Somfy motorization and can often add it to shades you already own. |
Shutters and Drapery Custom shutters built to fit out-of-square windows in older homes, and custom drapery designed in your home with fabric samples. |
Shade for patios, porches and decks, so you can enjoy a lake-breeze evening without the low sun in your eyes. |
Precise measuring matters here. Older homes in Manitowoc and Two Rivers often have windows that are a little out of square, and a few eighths of an inch is the difference between a shade that fits and one that gaps. That’s why we measure every window ourselves.
