Inside the 2026 Artisan Home Tour: The Window Treatments in the Homes by Chris Home
Every year the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City opens a handful of custom homes to the public for the Artisan Home Tour, and every year it's a reminder of how much detail goes into a house before anyone ever walks through the door.
This year we had the privilege of outfitting the windows in the Homes by Chris entry — Tour #4, at 12505 NW Copper Hill Dr. in Parkville.
What we installed
Working alongside the builder's team, we designed, measured and professionally installed treatments throughout the home:
- Hunter Douglas motorized shades in the lower level — two hardwired and one battery-powered, so the room can be adjusted without a single cord in sight.
- Carole Fabrics custom drapery in the pink room, made to the exact height of the windows rather than trimmed to fit.
- A Carole Fabrics custom Roman shade in the black and blue-and-white room, where the fabric had to hold its own against a bold palette.
- Norman SmartDrape™ in the sunroom off the primary suite — a good answer for a wall of glass that needs light control without losing the view.
- Pro Design custom drapery panels elsewhere in the home.
Why the mix
People sometimes assume a house like this gets one product throughout. It rarely works that way. A lower level with a media wall has different needs than a sunroom that faces west, and a bold guest room asks something different of fabric than a soft primary suite does.
Getting that right is most of the job. The measuring and installing matters — but choosing what belongs on each window is where a home either feels finished or doesn't.

Thinking about your own windows
You don't need a tour home to get this kind of work. We bring the samples to you, measure every window, and handle installation start to finish — same process whether it's a whole custom build or a single stubborn window that's bothered you for years.
