Cellular shades are a great option, and we offer them in many colors and styles, even having motorized systems at Budget Blinds of San Leandro to give your home or business a complete update. So, we’d love it if you read on to learn more about our cellular shades.

What Are Cellular Shades?

Cellular shades have a unique design that has what is essentially a honeycomb form. What this means is there are multiple layers coming together and parting to make small pockets of air between the layers.

Why Should I Consider Getting Cellular Shades?

The primary reason is that the air pockets of the cellular design act as an extra layer of insulation, which helps prevent temperature changes.

Normal curtains and other shades might be able to be a little bit of a barrier, but they don’t do nearly as much as cellular shades when it comes to providing insulation.

As windows are far from the most insulated areas of your home and are, in fact, known for leaking heat out in the winter and letting heat leach in during the summer, this added insulation saves you money on your electric bills.

Can Cellular Shades Completely Block Out Light?

Yes! Cellular shades can be made out of blackout materials, and our double-cell options, especially when paired with thicker fabrics, are also able to block out all the light if you need to be able to make a room completely dark.

How Would I Clean My Cellular Shades?

The simplest way to do so is with your vacuum cleaner, though be sure to use the brush attachment to prevent the strong suction from the hose from pulling the cells out of shape! This will get all the dirt and dust off.

If you get any stains on it that a vacuum cleaner wouldn’t work for, we advise using a damp cloth to spot clean them off.

Are There Many Cellular Shade Options?

There are! We have all sorts of cellular shades at Budget Blinds. Just to name some of your choices, we have:

  • single cell or double cell designs

  • all manner of colors and fabric types

  • various pleat sizes so you can get the right one to suit your windows

  • motorized or manual options

  • top-down setups to allow you to lower the top to let light in while still having the bottom in place for privacy

All of the above options are, of course, cordless, as we know how dangerous dangling cords can be. Also, if you choose one of our automated options, we’ve partnered with Lutron to create Serena Shades, which have the quietest motors on the market and are something we are very proud of.
