Michelle Maryatt
Owner
Owner | Budget Blinds of Central Portland
Michelle Maryatt is the owner of Budget Blinds of Central Portland, Beaverton, and Lake Oswego, serving homeowners throughout the Portland metro area with custom window coverings designed to enhance the beauty and functionality of their homes.
With over 20 years of experience in the window covering industry, Michelle has built a reputation for thoughtful design, exceptional service, and creating solutions that truly improve the way people live in their homes. She leads a team of design consultants and installation specialists dedicated to delivering beautiful, functional window treatments tailored to each home and lifestyle.
From elegant custom drapery and shutters to innovative motorized shades and layered window treatments, Michelle’s team focuses on combining beautiful design with everyday comfort and usability.
Michelle’s personal favorite design approach is layering—pairing custom drapery with shades such as roller shades, natural woven shades, or Roman shades. This combination allows homeowners to enjoy warmth, texture, privacy, and light control while creating a finished, designer look.
Her Central Portland showroom, located in Portland’s Alberta Arts District, was created as a place where homeowners can explore fabrics, finishes, and automation solutions before meeting with a design consultant in their home.
Michelle is actively involved in the Home Building Association of Greater Portland and NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry), working alongside builders, designers, and remodelers to support thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship throughout the region.
Her leadership and business success have earned national recognition. Michelle was honored by Home Franchise Concepts as the first-ever Budget Blinds Hall of Fame recipient and has also been recognized as a Franchise Rock Star for her leadership and business excellence.
For Michelle, success is about more than window coverings.
“For me, being a woman in design, remodeling, and custom window coverings starts and ends with people. Our mission says it clearly: People-First. Design Driven. Portland-Rooted.”
Michelle and her team are passionate about helping homeowners create spaces that feel comfortable, beautiful, and truly their own.
Outside of work, this busy mother of three enjoys spending time with family. Michelle enjoys taking advantage of the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, from beach walks along the Oregon Coast to the hiking trails near Forest Park. She also loves to travel and explore new places, often finding inspiration in architecture, art, and textiles along the way. Her love of fabric, design, and custom drapery reflects a deep appreciation for art and the way thoughtful design can transform a space.

Lena Mwithi
Please stop by our showroom and say hello to Lena, our Office Admin hailing from Albuquerque, New Mexico. A Portlander for less than a year, she’s enchanted by the natural beauty and diverse food scene, a refreshing change from her desert hometown. Lena declares her favorite window treatment to be shutters, appreciating their elegant and open design reminiscent of fancy wood blinds. For Lena, the best part of working at Budget Blinds is undoubtedly the people. From the start, she sensed the team's kindness, making her feel fortunate to be part of the crew. When she’s not assisting clients in the showroom, Lena immerses herself in music and explores her passion for diverse cuisines. As she eagerly awaits warmer weather, outdoor adventures are on her list. While Lena misses her pitbull pup, Leetah, back in New Mexico, she hopes to bring a furry friend into her home once she settles into a larger space. Lena’s unwavering positivity not only brightens our showroom but also enriches the spirit of our team.
